A war of words between the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin and the village of Hobart has prompted a call for a mediator by the tribe's chairman.
In recent weeks, chairman Gerald Danforth and village president Richard Heidel have battled each other in the local newspaper and letters. The dispute is over a lawsuit the village filed against the tribe to determine ownership of a piece of property and property taxes.
Danforth says the conflict could be resolved with the help of a mediator. He says the tribe's relationship with Heidel, who has been in office since August, needs improvement.
