Onawa Lacy, a member of the Navajo Nation, is competing in the Miss USA pageant on April 21 but has her eyes set on other goals.
Lacy, a graduate in English and Native American studies from the University of New Mexico, wants to go to law school. She is using her pageant money to finance her education.
Lacy was the first Native woman to win the Miss New Mexico title. She said she started competing due to the lack of Native representation.
