Two medicine men from the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma traveled to Wichita, Kansas, on Monday to hold a blessing ceremony for the 44-foot-tall Keeper of the Plains sculpture.
Truman Ware and Vernon "Cy" Ahtone blessed the statue before it was raised to a higher base. The sculpture now stands 30 feet higher.
Ware and Ahtone said they were honored to perform the ceremony, held at the Mid-America All-Indian Center.
