Tennessee land swap draws Native protesters

A small group of Native activists led a protest against a land swap they say will damage sacred sites and burial grounds in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Valley Authority swapped 578 acres with John Thornton, a University of Tennessee trustee who plans a $450 million gated community with up to 1,100 homes, a golf course and boat slips on Nickajack Lake. He is turning over three parcels totaling 1,095 acres to TVA.

The Sacred Little Cedar Mountain Defense Coalition says the swap will harm sacred sites and is considering a lawsuit.
