J.D. Colbert, the new president and chief executive of the Native American Bank, wants to expand the institution's reach in Indian Country.
Colbert, who is Chickasaw/Creek from Oklahoma, is seeking to establish more branches and provide other services like venture capital and captive insurance. He believe it will take 10 to 15 years to become the bank for tribes and Native Americans across the country.
The bank's investors are about 20 tribes and Alaska Native corporations. To expand, Colbert said more tribes and Alaska Natives would need to invest.
