Coeur d'Alene Tribe launches online tutoring program

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho launched a pilot program with Washington State University to provide tutoring for tribal students via Internet video teleconferencing.

Officials say the program makes it easier for students to get help. They also hope it will raise graduation rates. Currently, only about 38 percent finish high school, The Spokesman Review reported.

The tribe tapped into a federal grant to pay education majors at WSU to do the tutoring.
