Paula Lorenzo, the longtime chairwoman of the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, has been voted out off office.
Lorenzo ran the 44-member tribe since 1993. She oversaw the development of the tribe's casino and was active in state and national Indian issues.
Replacing Lorenzo is Marshall McCay, the former tribal secretary.
