The former chief financial officer for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians was sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling more than $500,000 from the Michigan tribe.
Daniel Broton, 45, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and conversion of travel assets. He will pay $500,000 in restitution to the tribe.
A second man, Daniel Heller, 52, pleaded guilty to the same charges and will be sentenced March 1.
