The Yakama Nation will hold a traditional giveaway today for Tommy James Eli, the tribe's vice chairman who died in October 2005 at the age of 72.
Eli was known for his support of tribal language programs. He served on the tribal council in addition to service as vice chairman of the general council.
The tribe will hold its annual gathering on Thursday to elect a new vice chairman, a lifelong position.
