Rep. Richard Pombo (R-California), the chairman of the House Resources Committee, has accepted more than $500,000 in campaign contributions from tribes over the past three years, Knight Ridder Newspapers reported.
The figure is higher than the $316,000 reported by The Fresno Bee last month. It's significantly higher than other amounts that have been cited by other news organizations.
According to Knight Ridder, Pombo is the third-leading recipient of tribal donations. He has funneled $350,000 of his contributions to Republican interests.
