The Navajo Nation and the El Paso Natural Gas Co. have reached an interim deal over 900 miles of pipeline that cross the reservation.
El Paso's right-of-way deal expired last October. The tribe threatened trespass action after the company said it would seek approval from the Interior Department.
The dispute appears to be over for now as El Paso will continue to pay quarterly fees to the tribe while a final deal is worked out. But both sides are still far apart on the terms, a spokesperson for Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. said.
