Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (D) is opposing the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community's land-into-trust application in Prior Lake.
The tribe wants 760 acres placed in trust for housing, cultural and health care purposes. The Bureau of Indian Affairs previously denied the request, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
Pawlenty said he won't oppose some of the land being taken into trust. The city of Prior Lake is supporting the application.
