The Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado has purchased a 49 percent stake in a homebuilding company.
New Town Builders is ranked 16th on one list of large local homebuilders, The Denver Post reported. The firm had revenues of $53 million. in 2003.
The tribe's investment averts a buyout of the firm. Many local builders have been acquired by larger companies in recent years.
