Haudenosaunee discuss border, land concerns

Members of the Haudenosaunee nations discussed border and land issues at a Syracuse University symposium on Tuesday.

Members of the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk and Tuscarora nations said they should be able to freely cross the U.S.-Canada border. The 1794 Jay Treaty recognizes that right but speakers said they still see problems.

Of the Haudenosaunee, the Mohawks have a reservation that straddles the border.
