Carrie Dann, a Western Shoshone activist, spoke to students at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut about her land struggle.
Dann and other activists say the United States has illegally taken possession of 60 million acres promised in the 1855 Treaty of Ruby Valley. Along with her late sister, Mary Dann, Carrie has continued to use the land despite facing pressure by the government.
Members of the Western Shoshone Nation are set to receive a $140 million trust fund for the taking of the land. Activists are refusing to take the payment.
