Cherokee 'chief' plans to take over Indian Center

A man claiming to be the chief of the "RedNation of the Cherokee" is planning to take over the Mid-America All-Indian Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Chief Randy Two Bears Standing Tate said he was upset about allegations of mismanagement at the center. So he filed paperwork with the state, changed the center's name to the "RedNation of the Cherokee Mid-America All Indian Center" and installed him and his wife as officers -- all for just $90.

The move has taken center officials and city officials by surprise, The Wichita Eagle reported. None of them knew of the changes until being told by the paper.

The city took over the center amid financial and management problems. But the city and the center itself let the paperwork lapse, enabling Tate to mount his takeover.
