Catawba Nation linked to election fraud probe

The Department of Justice is investigating possible federal election fraud involving businesses linked to the Catawba Nation of South Carolina, The State reports.

The paper said the FBI recently searched the offices of three businesses. One of the companies manages the tribe's bingo and real estate development activities, the paper said.

An attorney for the tribe said the tribe is not a target of the investigation. The paper said the FBI sought records of the tribe's dealings with the three businesses that were searched.
