Tomee Brown, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, hopes to make a difference in her community.

Brown is a student at Northern State University. She's also the mother of a 2-year-old son, Lincoln Oliver End of Horn.

When she's not in school, working or taking care of Lincoln , she volunteers for organizations in Aberdeen. She likes living in the town but says Indians are sometimes treated differently.

Brown, 23, recently attended a Society of American Indian Government Employees youth conference in Washington, D.C.
