Thomas Yeahpau, a member of the Kiowa Tribe and student at Haskell Indian Nations University, has been awarded a $50,000 fellowship to work at Disney studios.
Yeahpau, 30, will spend a year in Hollywoord working at Disney. "They say I'll either be working on a sitcom or a drama," he told The Lawrence Journal-World.
While at Haskell, Yeahpau made several short films and wrote short stories. He as an organizer of the school's first film festival.
Yeahpau has a liberal arts degree from Haskell and is currently working on a bachelor's degree in business.
