The Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation in Nevada is home to a lake considered one of the most prized natural resources.

But the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe says it won't be developing the lake anytime soon. "The lake is sacred to the people and always will be," Chairman Norman Harry told the Reuters. He said the tribe has other economic development plans, such as a casino.

The tribe's stance brings criticism from non-Indian residents of the reservation. They say the tribe is missing out on a huge opportunity by not developing the lake. They point to Lake Tahoe, which generates $1.8 billion of activity annually.
