An Alaska Native leader who quit his state post amid allegations of conflict of interest resigned from yet another state job after just five days.
Edgar Blatchford was serving as state commerce commissioner up until July. At the same time, he held a position in an Alaska Native corporation. The commerce department oversees the corporations.
After leaving the commerce job, Blatchford went to work for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute but quit five days later, citing personal reasons.
Blatchford also quit his post as a director of the Chugach Alaska Corp. A report accuses him of numerous improprieties, which he denies.
