Minnesota tribes among top 10 lobbyists in state


Minnesota tribes are among the top 10 list of lobbyists in the state, according to a new report from the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board.

The Minnesota Indian Gaming Association, the Prairie Island Dakota Community and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community spent about $1.1 million on lobbying from June 2004 to May 2005. They lobbied against proposed casinos in the Twin Cities area.

According to the report [PDF], MIGA spent $390,219, Prairie Island spent $361,750 and the Shakopee spent $349,439.
