The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is selling its two high-speed ferries for $10 million each.
The ferries were launched in 1998 to transport commuters in New England. But the tribe ended the business because there wasn't a market, a spokesperson said. They are being sent to a buyer in Hong Kong.
The ferries played a role in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. When almost every other mode of transportation was down, the tribe used them to transport stranded commuters out of Manhattan. The ferries also transported medical personnel to the city.
