Fort Mojave Tribe to vote on recall of chairwoman

Members of the Fort Mojave Tribe of Arizona, California and Nevada will go to the polls tomorrow to vote on the recall of longtime chairwoman Nora McDowell.

Among a host of charges, McDowell is accused of treating tribal members like "second class citizens" in a complaint filed by Kelly Hills. He says McDowell hasn't done enough to help the tribe and should have stopped the theft of funds from the tribe's power company. McDowell's former husband was the utility's general manager.

McDowell has been chairwoman for 25 years. She says the charges are unwarranted and that she has a proven record of success.
