Cecelia Fire Thunder, the first woman president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, says she has done nothing wrong to warrant a hearing on her possible suspension.
Fire Thunder says she has only been trying to correct mismanagement of tribal programs.
She said the Head Start program she shut down will be run by the tribal college and that $38 million in loans from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in Minnesota will go to repay debts and expand from the casino.
The tribal council will hear the complaint against Fire Thunder on Tuesday. The complaint was filed by Alberta Iron Cloud Miller, the former Head Start director who was fired by Fire Thunder.
