"Into the West," a series about the lives of an Indian and non-Indian family will debut next week, June 10, on Turner Network Television.
The 12-hour series seeks to show the perspectives of a Lakota family and a white family amid the changing West. It stars, among other Native actors, Irene Bedard, Russell Means, Eric Schweig, brothers Eddie and Michael Spears and Sheila Tousey. [IMDB Entry].
Joseph Marshall III, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, also played a role in the series in addition to serving as a consultant. He worked with the producers to make sure it portrayed Lakota culture in a historically and culturally accurate manner.
