The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas held a special blessing and naming ceremony on Thursday for a litter of puppies that will be trained to help people with physical disabilities.
The tribe sponsored the litter of eight Labrador retrievers. Each received Potawatomi names like Azhe'ni, or Angel, and Chumko, or Big Bear.
The dogs will be sent to puppy raisers before they receive specialized training from KSDS, a dog service organization. Once they are trained, they will be sent to families in Kansas and Colorado.
