An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his friend in the Central Yup'ik village of Alakanuk in western Alaska.
Isaiah Chikigak is accused of killing Mary James, 19, after they went out for a night of drinking in the village. Authorities say Chikigak beat James and then buried her, possibly while she was still alive, in a shallow grave.
Alakanuk is a dry village but the mayor said alcohol is a problem.
