Column: Indian Land Tenure Foundation debuts film

"Two movies open here Thursday. One is the new 'Star Wars' eposide; the other isn't. But both are about issues that began long, long ago and whose solutions are far, far away.

The movie without Yoda is 'American Indian Homelands: Matters of Truth, Honor and Dignity -- Immemorial,' which will have its world premiere at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.

It's a quick course in U.S. history, but also a glimpse into the future. Two things are happening. First, Indian tribes are doing something they've never done before: joining together to get back land that the government once gave them on reservations, then gradually seized or suckered away. They're led by an organization based in the Twin Cities, the Indian Land Tenure Foundation."
