Burial ground in Wisconsin larger than expected

A burial ground at the site of a construction project in Neenah, Wisconsin, is larger than expected.

A total of 15 graves have been discovered so far. Additional graves are believed to be located exactly where the city plans to build a road to a new $25.7 million water plant.

The Oneida Nation opposes the road, said Corinna Williams, the tribe's historic preservation officer. "This is a very upsetting issue for all of the tribes," she told The Appleton Post-Crescent.

The city says it will consult with the Oneida, Menominee, Ho-Chunk, Forest County Potawatomi and Meskwaki tribes before moving forward with the road.
