Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) directed state lawmakers to find $1.6 million in state funds a water settlement for the Zuni Tribe.
Napolitano vetoed a bill that would have drawn the money from the state's Heritage Fund. She said the fund's purpose would not have fit the Zuni settlement.
The state's portion of the deal will help the tribe buy water rights, install water wells and acquire additional lands.
