In what was described as the first tribal-industry partnership of its kind, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has joined a Clean Cities effort to bring environmentally-friendly transportation to the Palm Springs, California, area.
Agua Caliente Chairman Richard M. Milanovich made the announcement at the start of the
11th Annual Clean Cities Conference in Palm Springs, an industry-sponsored event that focuses on alternative energy sources. The tribe will help pay for hydrogen-powered shuttle buses developed by Ford Motor Company.
Clean Cities is a national Environmental Protection Agency program.
