The First Nations Student Association at Kansas University is hosting the Big 12 American Indian Student Leadership Conference.
The conference started on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Organizers expect about 300 students from Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and other states.
This year's theme is "Retraditionalizing Indigenous Leadership: Student Voices of Fire." Workshops will focus on issues facing Indian students. A powwow will be held tomorrow to close out the conference.
