The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians handed out more than $1 million in donations to area organizations in its 10th annual ceremony on Friday.
The tribe uses gaming revenues to help local organizations meet community needs. Over the past 10 years, more than $11 million has been donated through the program, not including the $500,000 the tribe makes every year through other contributions.
"This is only one of many ways the tribe's contributions have a direct impact on our community and the well-being of our residents," The Palm Springs Desert Sun said in an editorial.
