Nevada tribe plans Wal-Mart, other development

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony of Nevada is promoting a deal to bring a Wal-Mart and other development to improve a run-down area of east Reno.

The tribe plans to build a $14 million Wal-Mart and share sales taxes with the state. The tax revenue would be used to demolish a state prison and build transitional housing for non-violent offenders.

The tribe is already building a health clinic and wants to swap land with the state. Local officials are supporting a bill to approve the land transfer.
