A 15-year-old member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana was sentenced to 20 years in state custody for a brutal attack that left one man dead and another seriously injured
Vincent "Vinny" Whiteman was 13 at the time of the incident that took place in Hardin, just outside the reservation. He pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and aggravated assault for the death of Wayne Evan Not Afraid, 26, and the beating of Floyd Daniel Grant, 25.
Whiteman was charged as an adult but will start to serve his sentence at a youth detention facility. A second person, Dietrich Shoulderblade, who was 21 at the time of the incident, awaits trial. A third teen present was not charged.
