The Nez Perce Tribe agreed on Tuesday to accept a $193 million water rights settlement with the state of Idaho and the federal government.
The tribal executive committee voted 6-2 in favor of the deal. It settles the tribe's claims on the Snake River in exchange for 50,000 acre-feet of water, $80 million in cash and land and other environmental improvements.
The deal needed state and tribal approval by March 31 to go into effect. President Bush already signed a bill on behalf of the U.S.
