Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D) has vetoed a state budget bill that sought to cut funding for Din College.
Under a compact signed in 1999, the state agreed to provide the college with $17.5 million over 10 years. But state lawmakers failed to include the money in this year's budget.
Tribal leaders and state officials protested, leading to Napolitano's veto. The college says restoration of the funds will provide critical services.
