Native leaders say Canada's budget falls short

The Canadian government's latest budget includes $735 million for First Nations programs but Native leaders say the money isn't enough to address long-standing problems.

The budget includes $295 million for housing over the next five years. The Assembly of First Nations says at least $1 billion is needed to improve conditions.

The budget also includes $345 million over the next five years for education programs. The money will be used for early learning and child care, special education and child and family services.

The government previously announced an initiative to spend $700 million over five years for Native health but no new funds were announced on Wednesday.
