A member of the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida plans to appeal his sentence for the deaths of his two young sons.
Kirk Billie was given a life in prison for driving an SUV carrying his sons into a canal. The boys were 3 and 5 at the time of the incident.
Billie's lawyers plan to challenge the sentence based on a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that altered the federal criminal sentencing guidelines. They say the judge exceeded the guidelines.
