Navajo Nation officials warns of shortfall, layoffs

Navajo Nation officials are warning of a $15 million shortfall and possible layoffs in the near future.

Controller Mark Grant said the tribe's gross revenue will drop to $138.5 million in the coming fiscal year. Emmitt Francis, director of the management-budget office, said the shortfall could force layoffs of 500 out of 7,000 employees.

Other tribal officials said they could find ways to deal with the issue.
