Mason McWatters, the youngest council member of the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma, was killed Saturday, December 10, in a car accident.
McWatters, one of the drivers, was pronounced dead at the scene along with his passenger. The driver of the other car and two passengers were injured.
McWatters, 29, leaves behind a wife and two young sons, including a 1-year-old boy with medical issues. The Quapaw Tribe has set up a memorial fund to help the family in their time of need.
"I cannot tell you how we are struggling to deal with our loss, Mason was so wonderful and we are paralyzed in grief," said John Berrey, the chairman of the tribe's business committee.
Donations can be sent to the Mason McWatters memorial fund, c/o Quapaw Tribe, PO Box 765 Quapaw, Oklahoma 74363.
