An Alaska Native corporation has been contacted about running the food services for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District.
No contracts have been signed by the NANA Corporation is aggressively preparing for the job. The firm is already advertising for a food services director and hopes to prepare a competitive bid should the district decide to privatize.
NANA's push has some school district employees worried, however. The district says a decision on outsourcing won't be made until early next year.
