Ron Allen, the chairman of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe of Washington and the treasurer of the National Congress of American Indians, plans to share his Buffett Award with the Embassy of Tribal Nations.

Allen received $25,000 from the Ecotrust organization for his role in promoting indigenous leadership. He will donate a portion of the award to help NCAI build the Embassy in Washington, D.C.

"I feel my mission now is to help the organization strengthen the financial foundation and get the resources to purchase an embassy -- a physical building that belongs to the tribes," he said, Indian Country Today reported. Allen is overseeing the fundraising campaign for the $12 million embassy.

Four other Native leaders were finalists for the award. Each received $2,500.
