The Haliwa-Saponi Tribe of North Carolina is planning a $30 million Native-American-themed amusement and educational park, The Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald reports.
The tribe has hired a firm to create a preliminary design and artist rendering for the park. It will be called "Turtle Island: Native America USA."
The park will be built in two phases, said Chief Ronnie Richardson. The tribe will use state and federal funds to complete the project.
The Haliwa-Saponi Tribe is recognized by the state but not by the federal government.
