The Makah Nation of Washington recently purchased 3,800 acres of timber land that were ceded as part of an 1855 treaty.
Makah Forestry Enterprises, the tribe's forestry company, bought the land in a $6 million deal.
The purchase increases the tribe's land holdings by 11 percent.
The tribe plans to harvest the land, which could double the tribe's timber revenue of about $1 million, The Peninsula Daily News reported.
