The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians says its new $40 million museum will open in late 2008.

The tribe has chosen a site in downtown Palm Springs. Michael Hammond, the museum's executive director, said the location could attract 150,000 people a year.

The tribe has raised $24 million of the $40 million needed the 90,000-square-foot facility. It replaces a much smaller 1,600-square-foot location on the edge of town.
