Gathering celebrates Native veterans, Marines


A Gathering of Warriors was held on Thursday to honor Native veterans and the 230th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.

The Inter-Tribal Indian Club and Veterans' Upward Bound program at Montana State University-Billings sponsored the event. More than 100 people attended to pay tribute to the Native men and women who have fought in the nation's wars.

The oldest Marine in attendance was Sgt. Walter Pease, a member of the Crow Tribe who is 85 years old.
