Women clean up Northern Cheyenne cemetery

Two women are cleaning up a cemetery on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana.

Janet Mullin and Teddy McMakin, a tribal member, saw that some burial plots were neglected. So they are cleaning up the cemetery, identifying unmarked graves and mapping the marked ones.

Among the people buried in the cemetery are Yellow Mule and Head Chief Hill, two Cheyenne warriors who sacrificed themselves to feed their people in 1890. McMakin's cousin, Hazel Whiteman Kills Knife, was buried there recently.
