The Tule River Tribe of California is seeking to develop more than 1,000 acres land for housing.

The tribe is planning 21 low-income, single-family units on the land. The homes are the first phase of a larger housing development.

The land is located outside reservation boundaries but adjacent to the reservation. It was not reported whether the tribe will seek to have it placed in trust.

The land is currently zoned by Tulare County as agricultural. The tribe has filed a letter to change it to development corridor status.
